Cashier

Job Description

This position will be critical for receiving payments from customers. The cashier will be responsible to the Financial Accountant for serving customers in the cash office.

Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:

  • Receiving and receipting payments from customers and updating customer’s accounts;
  • Paying out petty cash and maintaining petty cash account;
  • Posting post dated cheques to the system and ensuring that the postdated cheques register is up to date and ensuring safe custody of the postdated cheques.
  • Daily banking of cash and cheques;
  • Reconciling petty cash, cash in hand and m-pesa accounts;
  • Making cash payments;
  • Withdrawing of cash, collecting cheque books, presenting RTGS and collecting unpaid cheques; and
  • Safe keeping of unbanked cash and cheques.

    Job Specifications

    For appointment to the position of a cashier, an officer must have:

  • Served in a comparable position and have relevant working experience of two (2) years in Accounts;
  • Bachelors degree in a business related field
  • A pass in CPA II from a recognized institution;
  • A Certificate in Computer Applications (Windows, Ms-Word, Ms-Excel, Ms-Access, Internet and Accounting software especially Navision) from a recognized institution.

    Chief Risk & Audit Officer

    Job Description

    The job holder will be responsible to the Board Audit and Risk Committee and report to Managing Director on audit issues.

    The job holder will coordinate risk management activities including i.e. ensuring that there is adherence to policies, procedures and standards of the company’s financial and physical resources for improved performance and corporate governance.

    Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:

  • Preparing and executing a risk based audit plan for the organisation based on the significant risks identified in the company’s risk management framework;
  • Ascertaining the effectiveness’ of the company’s internal control framework in managing organizational risks by carrying out risk based process audits;
  • Supporting and coordinating the Risk Management framework by facilitating risk management activities such as risk identification assessment and educating staff on risk management and internal controls;
  • Facilitating the documentation of the company’s processes and the testing of internal controls in line with ISO9001; 2008 Quality Management System (QMS);
  • Preparing periodic reports on the implementation of internal controls and external audit recommendations and assist management in achieving the implementation/ completion benchmark set by the Board Audit and Risk committee.
  • Preparing periodic reports for the Audit and Risk committee;
  • Taking notes and prepare minutes of meetings of the Audit and Risk committee;
  • Carrying out investigations as may be required by the Board or management;
  • Conducting performance appraisals in line with the company policy;
  • Planning and organising internal audits and coordinating external audit; and
  • Preparing timely and accurate audit reports for Risk Management Committee.

    Job Specifications

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:

  • Proven work experience of at least eight (4) years in auditing related field three (2) of which will be at middle management level in a strategic organization;
  • Bachelors degree in Commerce auditing or accounting option, Finance or any other relevant field of study from a recognized institution;
  • Possession of at least CPA (K) ACCA;
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor;

    E- Learning Technology Executive

    Job Description

  • Support e-learning management system to enable the company achieve e.Learning objectives.
  • Design and package for distribution of e-products on CD/DVD media and other emerging platforms.
  • Collaborate with other IT personnel to ensure system updates are implemented and programming changes are completed in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with e.Learning team to identify needs, develop learning strategies and validate courseware.
  • Research, design and develop of various digital platforms
  • Develop and maintain various online payment platforms
  • Convert content into a format which can be used in Learning Management System (LMS) platform
  • Develop in house e.Learning training material in consultation with various business units
  • Customize and upgrade LMS to meet various stakeholder needs

    Job Specifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology or equivalent
  • 3 years experience in programming environment preferably content development

    Assistant Editor- Creative Works and Trade Books

    Job Purpose

    The Assistant Editor will work with the English Editor to manage and develop book projects in this subject area, in line with the agreed departmental and company’s objectives.

    Key responsibilities

  • Assess manuscripts in the area of literary works and children’s literature.
  • Write comprehensive evaluation reports.
  • Develop novels, novellas, children books and general books that reflect the changing literary needs to cater for different audiences.
  • Provide succinctly written information for marketing and launching of the products.
  • Edit and proofread to ensure products are error- free and conform to the agreed house style.
  • Liaise with editors and designers to meet expected schedules.
  • Develop marketing and promotional material in liaison with the Business Development Department.

    Qualification/Competencies

  • Bachelor of Education degree - English and Literature
  • 2 year teaching experience or 2 year editing
  • Certificate in communication will be an added advantage
  • A high level of creativity and innovation

    She/he will ensure that developed products books are in line with the company’s strategic thinking and meet thresholds in content, layout, brand quality and speed too market.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Sources and induct authors and external readers to facilitate the development and submission of up- to –date manuscripts in the subject area.
  • Evaluates manuscripts to determine if they reflect current interests of the market and whether they satisfy the Company’s publishing requirements.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for copyediting and production of publications in the subject area.
  • Organises, coordinates and participates in product development workshops.
  • Develops content for product extension.
  • Prepares and maintains production status reports on pending and in-process publications.
  • Works closely with the Business Development and Research Department to come up with products that meet customer needs and expectations to create a competitive edge
  • Participates in budget preparation for resource allocation and control.
  • Establishes the source of copyrighted materials and prepares acknowledgements for illustrations and text used to meet acquisition requirements.
  • Coordinate schedules with suppliers and in-house personnel to meet agreed production schedules.
  • Prepares and innovates project proposals for presentation to the editorial meeting and approval by management.

    Qualification/Competencies

  • Bachelor of Education degree in Geography, History, Business
  • 3 years teaching experience or 4 years in editing.
  • Experience in manuscript and book evaluation will be an added advantage.
