LMB International Fellowship Scheme

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology is a world famous institution with a strong track record in training postdoctoral fellows who have gone on to become leading scientists.

Talented individuals wishing to work within any group of the LMB are invited to show their interest by approaching a Group Leader in the LMB.

This initial part of the application process involves applicants being accepted by one of the LMB Group Leaders.

The LMB International Fellowship has been created for the development of innovative research, therefore the ideal candidate will be proposing to introduce a new project for the LMB, not the continuation of an existing project currently being developed within the LMB or elsewhere.

Successful applicants will be awarded a 3 year training and development fellowship, which is open to postdoctoral scientists who have recently completed their doctoral studies or are wishing to move into a new research area.

Scientists of any nationality, who are exceptional, highly-motivated and independent are sought.

Competition for these awards is likely to be strong

Work at the LMB covers a wide range of molecular biology, including structural and cell biology, neurobiology and immunology.

The LMB provides excellent training in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment, and proposals that involve collaboration between groups are also welcome.

Its aim is to provide fellowships to outstanding researchers, at an early stage of their career, to work in the LMB.

Eligibility:

  • Researchers with limited postdoctoral experience, or who are changing fields.
  • Applicants will not usually have had extensive postdoctoral experience at the time they take up the award, unless they are clearly changing fields.
  • Full allowance will be made for maternity leave, other family circumstance and military service.
  • You must have received your PhD before taking up the award.

Salary usually in the range £25 - £28k).

The fellow will be employed on MRC terms and conditions as a Career Development Fellow.

Full support will be provided for research expenses.

Applicants need to identify the group in the LMB in which they wish to hold the fellowship.

Only one application per round is permitted.

Applicants should discuss their proposed application with the group leader at an early stage.

A letter of support from the group leader must accompany the application.

There are likely to be limitations on the number of applicants that can be supported. Deadline: 7th October
