Kilimo Trust is a specialized resources mobilization and management non-profit that facilitates wealth creation and poverty reduction through agriculture and agri-business development in the member countries of the East African Community (EAC) – Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The mission of the Trust is to expand market-led sustainable agriculture for development in East Africa.

It does this by supporting the development of well integrated agricultural value chains, through promoting efficient value chains; private sector engagement; facilitating policy dialogue; technical and institutional innovations; and mainstreaming environmental sustainability

Guidelines for the Call:

Prior to being asked to prepare a Concept Note, you must submit, via email, a three-page pre-proposal structured as follows:

  • Title: Keep brief and descriptive, should fit on one line
  • Name, institution, phone number and e-mail address for Project Leader(s) and Team Member(s).
  • Broad theme(s) (e.g. promoting efficient value chains; private sector engagement; facilitating policy dialogue; Technical and institutional innovations; Mainstreaming environmental sustainability).
  • Details about themes can be obtained at our website and KT will give priority to those proposals targeting work within these broad categories, and those clearly identifying a current and future ability to leverage matching or external funding.
  • Project Purpose and description
  • Objectives: what are the intended goals of this project?
  • Methods: how will the objectives be achieved? (Project Strategy)
  • Timeline: what is the duration of this project?
  • Budget: what resources are required to complete the project?
