Research Institute of Law Politics and Justice, Keele University Applications are invited for four full-time three-year doctoral studentships within any of the research priority areas covered by the Research Institute.

These include the following:

Crime, Violence & Risk; Community Safety and Social Order; Crime History; Punishment, Policing & Social Control; Political and International Theory; European Politics; International Relations; Environmental Politics & Policy; Critical and Socio-Legal Studies; Law, Gender and Sexuality; Medical Law and Ethics; Law, Markets and Regulation; Cultural & Postcolonial studies, Migration, & International Human Rights.

Funding is for three years to cover fees for PhD registration (at home/EU rates) and a research studentship stipend equivalent to the research council rate (£12,600).

Funding is open to applicants from all countries.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your application has arrived before the deadline and includes ALL of the following:

  • The relevant application form
  • Two academic references
  • A full proposal for your PhD project (maximum four sides of A4. This should set out research questions to be addressed, proposed methodology, a summary of current literature etc)
  • A sample of your previous academic work (maximum 5,000 words).

    You may wish to contact possible supervisors before the deadline to talk to them before you submit your application.

    All successful applicants will still be required to meet the usual conditions for satisfactory progress in their doctoral studies.

    A failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of the studentship.
