IT Assistant Jobs in Kenya
Islamic Relief: Established in 1984 in the UK, Islamic Relief is an international NGO seeking to promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities through relief and development activities.
Support the IT officer in delivering effective IT and communication systems to IRK offices in Mandera, Wajir, Dadaab and Nairobi.
This position seeks to ensure strong and timely support is delivered to all these locations, trouble shooting and maintenance to the various networks and provision of back up support to staff.
At least a diploma in Information technology, Computer science, Information Systems or any other related field. Bsc Degree will be an added advantage.
2 years experience in a busy computer network department in a commercial or international organization preferably NGO
Experience in remote data solutions including Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT) and Regional B roadband Global Area Network (RBGAN).
Experience in the use and maintenance of HF Radio systems include Codan radios, VHF radios, Thuraya and Iridium satellite phones.
Hands - on experience in networking and cabling, network administration including working with Cisco products and wireless networks. Knowledge of the TCP/IP networking protocol is desirable. Work with network printers is also critical.
Skills in computer desktop applications including Word processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation and Database application software.
Experience in user support in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office platforms include support of Exchange Server mail system and Microsoft Outlook clients. Knowledge of remote user support is very important.
Self-starter with the ability to work without supervision.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Health Officer Jobs in Kenya
Under the supervision of Nutrition Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for the running of the Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) Project, by providing the supervision and support of IRK Health operations, facilitating good practice and ensuring legal compliance to applicable implementation process of MNCH interventions - in particular as they relate to Islamic Relief mandate and the donors interest including proper planning, implementation, monitoring and follow up, good representation and reporting.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise and ensure effective Implementation plan of health activities and interventions as outlined in the IR-USA Proposal Log frame and project document.
Support the County/ Sub-County Ministry of Health in effective delivery and management of Maternal and Child Health services (preventive and curative) at the community, health centres and inpatient facilities.
Conduct Technical Support Visits to the health facilities together with the C/SCHMTs to ensure that maternal and child health services are being provided according to national standards and protocol. Provide on-site coaching as and when necessary.
Design appropriate approaches to increase utilization of maternal and child health services in the community and health facility levels.
Support the DPHNs to conduct MCH updates and review meetings in the intervention Sub-Counties
Monitor and review medical supplies support to the ministry and utilization at the health facility level.
Monitor the availability of data collection tools and reporting formats to ensure that all MCH indicators are captured in the DHIS.
Work with the Nutrition officers and Ministry of Health Record Officers to ensure collection and linkage of outreach data with health facilities.
Ensure proper documentation of achievements, lessons learnt, and best practise throughout the program implementation.
Work with Ministry of Health and other partners in organizing and conducting health/nutrition surveillance and assessments in the sub counties.
Conduct rapid assessment, gaps analysis and contribute to concept note or proposal development
Participate in Nutrition/Health coordination and planning forums including AOPs.
Participate in development of health and nutrition information, education and communication materials.
The Health officer will contribute in the development of training curriculum, tools and facilitate or co-facilitate all Health/nutrition related trainings.
H/She will also be responsible for carrying out on-job training (OJT) for the health facility staff as well as the CHWs.
Prepare quality progress reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, end of project) and work plans in a timely manner
Represent IR in the health and nutrition coordination meetings with INGOs, NGOs and other stakeholders including the MOH at the County and Sub-County level.
Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine or Public Health.
At least three (3) years previous experience in a similar position and a proven record of health programme management
Ability to work on your own initiative as well as a part of a team.
Proven analytical skills and ability to think strategically.
Fluency in English – written and verbal
Effective IT Skills (Word & Excel).
Financial reporting and planning skills.
Communication, tact and negotiation skills.
Flexible and patient.

Safe Motherhood Promoter Jobs in Kenya
Under the supervision of Health Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the running of the MNCH Program under the current funded Safe Motherhood program by taking the lead in all MNCH promotion activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Community Mobilization &organization
Take lead in organizing for community dialogue; sensitize, mobilize and organize community to ensure awareness of responsibilities in MNCH
Follow up with the community health workers /volunteers to ensure regular home visits/follow up of mothers and children; those not attending Antenatal and Post Natal Clinics; and tracing of mothers delivering at home.
Promotion of healthy behaviours and practices
Promote MNCH awareness through IEC/BCC on control and prevention of Maternal, Neonatal and Child illnesses/complications; disease prevention and control through proper personal, household and communal hygiene
Conduct cooking demonstrations & promote exclusive breastfeeding and appropriate infant and young child feeding practices
Promote safe motherhood practices including antenatal care, delivery in health facilities or with skilled attendant and postnatal care.
Train and mentor mothers/caretakers to recognize signs and symptoms of childhood illnesses and advise them to seek prompt treatment and or have health seeking behaviour.
Capacity building of the community health groups and mother support groups
Identify gaps and Participate in the development of appropriate health messages, interventions and in conducting MNCH training for target beneficiaries, community groups and the Care Support Groups
In liaison with the Health Officer develop action plans for health education and promotion sessions.
Involve community own resource persons in the health education and promotion sessions
Facilitate and ensure all communication materials are pre-tested for relevance and are appropriate to targeted communities
Integration of MNCH promotion into other IRK interventions.
In liaison with the Health Officer collaborate with the WASH, Child Welfare and Livelihood teams on integration of health education and promotion into WASH, Child Welfare and Livelihood activities.
Document activities conducted at community level and submit weekly& monthly report to the linked health facility and IRK using provided tools
Carry out any other activities to support the effective functioning of the health and nutrition programme as requested by supervisor
Diploma in Community Health Nursing or Diploma in Clinical Medicine or related discipline
At least 2 years’ experience in implementing Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health programs.
Ability to plan, implement and lead an appropriate MNCH promotion and education operations.
Fluent in English, Swahili (Knowledge of Somali language will be an added advantage
Knowledge of the MoH systems and Reproductive Health
Strong community mobilization and sensitization skills
Excellent report writing skills
Computer skills especially MS Words and Excel.
Strong team membership and team work skills.
