Head of Office - International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC)

International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC)

The Head of Office (HOO) position provides oversight for all IOCC programs in Ethiopia.

The HOO will be responsible for providing overall management and guidance to project staff, ensure effective project implementation and financial accountability, and meet donor requirements.

The HOO must also maintain a close working relationship with the Ethiopian Orthodox Church (EOC) and its Development and Inter-Church Aid Commission (DICAC).

Stationed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; travel on field trips as required to support projects and a willingness to accept local standards while in the field; dress code varies in accordance with job tasks.

General Responsibilities

- Represent IOCC in the relationship with all partners and EOC/DICAC in particular; liaise with local government authorities; represent IOCC in the international community (embassies, NGOs) and provide updates on IOCC activities as necessary; and identify and develop new project opportunities and partnerships.

- Oversee the implementation, monitoring and financial requirements for all projects and provide guidance to project officers as necessary, ensuring compliance with donor guidelines;

- Ensure timely submission of all project reports according to donor and HQ requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree in International Development, Public Administration or equivalent experience; specialization on Africa preferred; Master’s degree preferred.

  • A minimum of five years’ experience of increasing responsibility in managing complex development projects in developing countries. Experience supporting development projects in Africa preferred. Knowledge of USAID and other international donors is required. Budgeting, managerial and supervisory skills are required.
