International Governance Advisor
MS Kenya is looking for an International Governance Advisor to be placed with Consortium for the Empowerment and Development of Marginalized Communities (CEDMAC).
The International Governance Advisor shall strategize, coordinate and deliver outputs within the interrelated governance themes of MS Kenya and ActionAid Kenya with the overall aim to contribute to poverty reduction through involvement of national and local partner organisations.
Advise CEDMAC and other strategic partners on programming and engagement in national governance reform processes.
Train and support CEDMAC and other strategic partners in governance related campaign, advocacy and lobby skills, strategies and activities.
Assist MS Kenya and ActionAid Kenya in program development and alignment of ’Building Local Democracy’ and ’Just & Democratic Governance’ themes.
Minimum of 8 years relevant post graduate work experience
Practical experience with political empowerment methodologies such as mobilization, awareness raising, participation, etc
Experience with multifaceted governance programming
Familiarity with social accountability work.
Profound campaign, advocacy & lobby skills
Proven record of successful campaign, advocacy and lobby work within governance sector
Strong strategic and policy analysis skills
Proven coaching, mentoring & advisory skills
Minimum of 5 years work experience from developing countries
In depth knowledge of the Kenyan political, socio-economic and cultural context
Excellent communication, coordination and facilitation skills
Diplomatic and respectful
Resistant to adversity
Self-starter and innovator
MS Kenya is presently a country programme of MS ActionAid Denmark.
The International Governance Advisor will thus be working within an organisational transition period.
