International Blindness Prevention Award

The International Blindness Prevention Award, established in, honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the prevention of blindness or restoration of sight worldwide.

The award is presented at the Academy's Annual Meeting each fall.

Nominations for the International Blindness Prevention Award are welcome.

Guidelines:

  • There is sustained activity in international blindness prevention.
  • The activity affects a significant number of people.
  • There is a demonstrated, personal commitment to the prevention of blindness.
  • The individual inspires others to save sight.
  • The individual has made an impact globally on systems to reduce blindness.
