This industry-funded PhD Studentship in the field of Nanoelectronics will be based in the School of Electrical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering at Newcastle University, although the student will be required to spend significant time working at the research facility of NXP Semiconductors in Leuven, Belgium.
The expected start date is January 2008.
The studentship fees will be funded at £3,950 and the stipend will be £14,000.
Additional living costs while visiting NXP will be supported at a level of €600 per month, plus the cost of travel between Newcastle and Leuven will be provided.
Requirements:
The student must have obtained a first-class Honours degree or MSc in a related subject (materials science or physics), and have the ability to perform original research.
A good mathematical background and experience of computer programming (MatLab, C/C++) would be an advantage.
A lively intellect, good interpersonal skills and willingness to travel are essential.
