ICAP Regional Laboratory Technical Advisor, Columbia University - South Africa

The International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP) at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health supports high-quality, HIV-related activities around the world.

The Regional Laboratory Technical Advisor for ICAP will serve as a full-time regional expert based in ICAP’s Regional Office (Johannesburg) to help standardize and implement the laboratory agenda in ICAP country programs.

Location: South Africa (Johannesburg)

Closing date: 02 Nov 2007

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates should hold at least a doctoral degree in medical science, laboratory science or related disciplines with at least 3 years experience in HIV-related clinical laboratory technology and applications in resource-limited settings.

Experience in CD4 enumeration, ELISA and HIV rapid test algorithms, PCR-based assays such as HIV RNA and HIV DNA diagnostics, hematology and biochemistry.

Have prior laboratory management and technical advisor experience. Prepared to travel frequently and at short notice to different ICAP program countries and regions.

Have excellent written/verbal communication skills, computer skills and strong interpersonal skills.
