Project Associate

The candidate will be key in handling a fairly wide range of administrative tasks in various projects as described below and will be able to work independently with little or no supervision.

Responsibilities

We are open to candidates with a range of different experiences and qualifications.

The key responsibilities for this position are;

  • Develop the key objectives to be achieved in a project, and assign realistic timelines to these steps
  • Represent Jacaranda Health to external audiences (e.g., property managers, government stakeholders, community leaders) and convey our objectives and needs effectively
  • Compile key information from other health facilities, clients, and other sources and summarize for Jacaranda management
  • Support the Director of Business Operations and other members of the Jacaranda team on special projects
  • Coordinate real estate search processes and the ensuing negotiations
  • Work with other areas of Jacaranda operations (e.g., Marketing, Community Partnerships, Clinical Operations) on targeted projects
  • Additional duties as assigned

    Requirements:

  • College Graduate, Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • The ideal Candidate should be have proficient computer skills with in-depth knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), project management skills, good communication skills, negotiation skills, organizational and planning skills, data gathering skills, problem solving and analysis, excellent judgment and decision making ability, initiative, flexible and a team player.

    Pharmaceutical Technologist

    Jacaranda is an excellent opportunity to learn new clinical skills, and to receive mentorship on cutting-edge innovation in maternal health care.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining detailed, meticulous records of all use of medicines in Jacaranda facilities
  • Checking prescriptions for accuracy and suitability to ensure safe, economical and rational dispensation and use of drugs and pharmaceutical products
  • Preparing and labeling extemporaneous preparations for both in and out patients
  • Participating in formulating and implementing Clinical policies on drug use and pharmacy standard operating procedures.
  • Performing clinical checks on all treatment sheets and prescriptions
  • Providing comprehensive and accurate drug information to patients and other users.
  • Designing and implementing procedures and guidelines on forecasting, storage and stock management, procurement and distribution of drugs in line with the required standards
  • Working closely with the clinical teams to support adequate and reliable supply medicine and participating in drug stock takes.
  • Assist in the setup and strategy for pharmacy operations in our subsequent facilities, including providing Jacaranda with the necessary licensure
  • Performing other administrative duties within the organization as may be tasked from time to time

    Desired Qualifications

    The desired candidate should possess the following:

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a recognized university/college
  • Registration with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
  • Possession of valid annual practicing license.
  • At least 3 years’ pharmacy experience following receipt of diploma/degree
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work effectively with a team in a culturally diverse environment
  • A good understanding of community dynamics. Knowledge and familiarity with low-income urban areas of Nairobi.

    Quality Improvement Specialist/Consultant

    Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, consultation, advice and recommendations, coaching, education, and decision-making support to managers, supervisors, employees and professional peers related to clinical practices, adverse outcomes, policies and procedures and performance measurement and quality improvement activities
  • Obtains and interprets data from a variety of sources into relevant and cohesive information for the purpose of guiding stakeholders in developing action plans designed to achieve the organization's quality objectives.
  • Develops and tracks goals, strategies, tactics, and action plans for the assigned departments and serves as a resource for recommendations and next steps.
  • Conducts and oversees investigations into adverse events, developing sufficient documentation to identify and evaluate human factors and system failures for the purpose of recommending changes to prevent recurrence and/or ensure patient safety.
  • Integrates the tenets of a 'just culture' into consulting activities and written reports.
  • Serves as a primary steward to patient safety and hospital quality on a clinical arena level, pursuing understanding of the services being provided within the arena, the nature of patient needs and the challenges unit and arena staff face in fulfilling assigned roles.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Seeks and capitalizes upon opportunities to provide education in performance and quality improvement, human factors and lean/six sigma theories.
  • Acts as a leader in issues of performance measurement, quality improvement, and patient safety.

    Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Public Health or quantitative field (e.g. business, engineering, mathematics), Lean/Six Sigma Certification, Quality/Process Improvement Background
  • Three (3) years of applicable quality improvement experience such as participating as a quality committee member, involvement with self-governed work teams, abstraction and interpretation of performance data, or demonstrated use of CQI tools and techniques is preferred.
  • Demonstrated use of Quality processes and tools (Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.), Utilization Management, and/or Risk Management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop constructive interpersonal and professional relationships with diverse populations (administrators, physicians, nurses, aides, technicians and other personnel).
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently and as a contributing team member.
