Global Human Rights Grants

The Fund for Global Human Rights provides grants to non- governmental, non-profit organizations working to promote respect for human rights in the countries and regions in which they are based.

To be eligible for funding, an organization must work to defend or promote human rights and be based in countries from which proposals are sought.

Proposed activities may include:

  • those focused on mobilizing popular opinion through human rights skills-building and organizing;

  • networking and coalition building to further the effectiveness of human rights work;
  • and capacity building for organizations engaged in the above work, locally and regionally.

    Grants are for one year and may be renewed once.

    Grants will range from $5,000 to $30,000 each.

    Organizations based in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Pakistan, and/or India should visit the fund's Web site in November/December for grant information.
