The Global Health Council's Excellence in Media Award is dedicated to drawing attention to health issues that have a global impact.
The award honors those who have in the prior year most effectively captured the essence of a major issue in global health and conveyed it to a broad audience.
The Council welcomes Media Award submissions in the following four categories:
Newspaper, Magazine and Major Print Publication (NY Times, the New Yorker, the Economist, TIME Magazine)
"New Media" (video, radio, internet-based media)
Photojournalism
Community Media (community, local, in-country media of all types, including newspaper, community radio and internet-based)
Nomination Criteria:
Entries may be made by any individual or organization from material appearing in print or electronic media
Entries may be made by U.S.-based and non-U.S.-based individuals or organizations
Entries may be submitted in writing or electronically with a nomination letter
Eligible works must have been published or aired between Feb. 28, and Feb. 27 of the previous year.
Previous winners are eligible for entry
Selection of the awardee is based on the quality of the reporting as well as its wide reach among readers and viewers.
