The National Museums of Kenya (NMK), a state corporation under the Ministry of State for National Heritage and Culture has received funding from Getty Foundation through the British Museum to implement a three years training programme to create a network of dedicated museum professionals across Eastern Africa region in national and regional museums with the requisite skills to preserve, maintain and present collections for present and future generations.
Reporting to the Africa Programme Coordinator (BM) and liaising with Director, Human Resource and Administration (NMK), the holder of this position will be responsible for planning and delivery of training workshops and all local logistics.
Coordinate baseline survey on status of collections before commencement of programme and a close out survey
Organize training workshop in liaison with all players
Manage the day to day logistics related to the programme within the region
Organize follow up visits to hub museums to provide participants with practical support in implementing change
Be in possession of at least a degree in Anthropology or related discipline.
A postgraduate formal training in a Heritage Management/International Development will be an added advantage.
Experience of project management within heritage or museum environment
Be able to work under sustained pressure in a highly dynamic environment
Have demonstrated commitment to career in heritage/ collection management
Possess in- depth knowledge of museum networks and associated heritage institutions within East Africa
Possess excellent verbal and written English language skills, preferably with experience of presenting information to diverse audiences.
