Field Project Leader, Bioversity International, Ethiopia
Minimum qualifications and competencies:
An advanced university degree (MSc or PhD) in agricultural
production sciences or
agribusiness development or equivalent academic qualifications;
Demonstrated knowledge and field experience in the production of
organic bananas
with fruit quality for export markets;
Demonstrated knowledge and field experience with post harvest
handling of organic
export bananas;
Demonstrated detailed knowledge of organic certification procedures for different markets;
Previous experience with value chain strengthening and the
development of effective
chain governance mechanisms;
Knowledge of participatory multi-stakeholder methods, innovation
system analysis
and public-private partnership building;
Willingness to work on training, organization- strengthening and
business
development with small growers;
Demonstrated competency and motivation to document methods used,
case studies
and impacts in practical publications and referred journals;
Demonstrated competency in communication and interpersonal skills
including the
ability to work effectively with people from different national and
cultural
backgrounds;
Fluency in English, including excellent writing skills; working
knowledge of Arabic is
an advantage.
Terms and conditions:
This is a Scientist level internationally
recruited position for which
Bioversity International offers an attractive remuneration package
including a competitive
salary, non-contributory retirement plan, medical insurance and leave
provisions.
All benefits
are denominated and paid in US Dollars.
The contract will be for a
period of three years, and
subject to a probationary period of one year.
The successful candidate
will be located in
Ethiopia with the lead counterpart organization and spend considerable
time in Sudan.
