The International Criminal Court (ICC) is a member organization of the Inter-Organization Mobility Accord and is interested in secondment of staff from organizations of the United Nations Common System.
The locally recruited Field Outreach Assistant will be expected to provide support to the CAR Outreach Coordinator in the implementation of the Court’s outreach strategies.
He/she will assist in developing close contacts and partnerships with representatives of civil society, local media, the legal community and educational establishments.
Contribute to the strategic planning of outreach activities for the Central African Republic based on his/her knowledge of the country, using culturally appropriate formulations, recommendations and advice;
Organize and participate in conferences, seminars, meetings, local public gatherings, press briefings, interviews, radio and television programmes, and other outreach activities for specific target groups or for the general public;
Draft notes from workshops and keep a record of frequently asked questions;
Take photographs and film outreach activities for a variety of purposes;
Liaise with NGOs, educational establishments and other ICC partners to encourage dissemination of clear and accurate information about the ICC;
Identify contacts and/or target audiences and opportunities for strategic partnerships to facilitate communication efforts and maintain working relationships with the same;
Follow up ICC public information and outreach campaigns at a local level and draft reports on the impact of the activities;
Completion of secondary school education (a law degree would be an asset).
At least five years of relevant experience. Initiative, adaptability in stressful situations.
Ability to use databases.
Demonstrated skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment.
Excellent communication skills (spoken and written), with the ability to draft/compile a variety of written communications and to articulate ideas using a clear, concise style.
Ability to communicate information to the public effectively; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Fluency in French and Sango is essential.
Working knowledge of other local languages is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the Court would be considered an asset.
