Faculty Fellowship at Stanford University

The Clayman Institute for Gender Research at Stanford University invites applications for residential fellowships for the academic year 2008-2009.

Applications will be considered from tenured and tenure-track faculty, and postdoctoral scholars from the U.S. and foreign universities.

The Michelle R. Clayman Institute Faculty Research Fellowship Program seeks to drive intellectual and social innovation through interdisciplinary gender studies.

In the next few years, this program focuses on gender in science, engineering, and technology. In subsequent years, this program will be devoted to innovative research on select topics in the humanities, business, law, and medicine.

Eligibility and Stipend Details:

  • Senior Research Fellows - Senior Research Fellowships are available to Associate or Full Professors (or the equivalent) with appointments at Stanford University or other U.S. or foreign universities.

    These awards are for tenured faculty only. Stipend: $52,000 for three academic quarters for Associate Professors (or equivalent) or $60,000 for three academic quarters for Full Professors (or equivalent), plus a maximum of $5,000 for research expenses.

  • Junior Research Fellows - Junior Research Fellowships are available to Assistant Professors (or the equivalent) with appointments at Stanford University or other U.S. or foreign universities.

    These awards are for tenure-track faculty only. Foreign applicants may not be on tenure track but must be employed as the equivalent of a U.S. Assistant Professor. Stipend: $46,000 for three academic quarters, plus a maximum of $5,000 for research expenses.

  • Postdoctoral Fellows - Postdoctoral fellowships are awarded to scholars who have competed their Ph.D. and are 3 years or less beyond receipt of their degree at the time of application. Stipend: A minimum of $36,000 for three academic quarters, with some benefits.

    Up to $5,000 may be available for research expenses. (Stipend and benefits will be set and adjusted in accordance with Stanford University rules on postdocs.)

  • Online Application; Curriculum vitae of no more than 5 pages;

  • A description of current research project (up to 5000 words, single-spaced, including all notes and bibliography);

  • and Two letters of recommendation
