Ethanol Distillery Project manager;

JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent is responsible for managing the Ethanol Distillery Project through planning, organizing, coordinating, controlling and monitoring processes to ensure the successful delivery of the project objectives.

This is a new position reporting to the Project Leader of the Ethanol Distillery project.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and problem-solving; Planning the project in order to accomplish its objectives (producing deliverables required within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards).

  • Maintaining the project budget including taking responsibility for delivering the project within the defined budget.

  • Continuously monitor project progress and prepare status reports.

  • Organize project progress review meetings.

  • Manage project risks (Identify, log, analyze and take mitigation action).

  • Define acceptance criteria for project deliverables and work towards achieving stakeholder acceptance of the deliverables.

  • Develop a communication plan.

  • Articulate and negotiate for consensus with stakeholders on the delivery of project objectives.

  • Create project reports and evaluation documents and disseminate as appropriate.

  • Create, resource, and manage a Project Management Office (PMO).

  • Identify the resources needed including team management responsibilities.

  • Work with team members to plan activities and negotiate consensus on appointed tasks.

  • Identify work that may be outsourced to third party contractors and allocate responsibility.

  • Create and use Gantt charts, spreadsheets or other appropriate project management tools to manage resources and tasks and keep up-to-date.

  • Responsible for coordinating meetings and activities that capture relevant lessons learnt and implement/supervise follow up actions.

  • Responsible for the creation, generation, and custody of relevant project documents (requirement specifications, contracts, SLAs, schedules, personnel records, project reports, communication (including email) records, design specifications, meeting agendas, minutes, status reports, etc).

    JOB REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Project Management: Knowledge of project management principles and the ability to apply the principles, tools and techniques to develop/plan, manage or execute projects or work-plans to ensure successful completion (on time, quality, and within budget).

    Possesses mastery of project management methods and tools including relevant computer applications.

  • Production Management & Processes: Knowledge of the principles of production management including blending, filling, water treatment, packaging, environmental management, etc, in order to effectively communicate and manage change in a production environment.

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices including understanding of government and industry regulatory guidelines and best practices.

  • Capacity Planning: Knowledge of multiple levels of the supply chain used to analyze contingency points, labor staffing and feedback on supplier capacities. Ability to predict capabilities (including suppliers) to deliver goods and services.

  • Budget Management: Knowledge of cost forecasting processes and methods to manage budgets.

  • Contingency Planning: Knowledge of information used to establish contingency plans for processes (e.g. cost, risk level, manufacturing and third party capabilities).

    Ability to develop contingency plans that meet performance requirements.

  • Risk Management: Knowledge of and ability to manage risks (Monitoring, Logging, Assessment, Mitigation, and Communication).

  • Quality System: Knowledge and application of policies, principles and standards of best practice quality systems in order to ensure consistent quality, protect the Company’s trademarks, promote customer and consumer satisfaction and respond to changing business needs.

  • Ability to solicit ideas across in a non-confrontational manner in one-to-one situations, small groups, and before large audiences.

  • Teamwork and developing consensus.

  • Ability to exercise good judgment, e.g. when assigning project tasks.

  • Highly motivated, able to demonstrate leadership and have a hands-on approach.

  • A minimum of 5 years working experience managing projects preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • A minimum of 5 years working experience within a large commercial environment.

  • University degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related area.
