ActionAid International (AAI) seeks to recruit a dynamic and energetic candidate to fill up the Emergencies And Conflict Advisor, East Africa

Position in AAI Emergencies and Conflict Team

Salary - £25,050.00 per annum, a three year renewable contract, located in any country in East Africa with an AAI office.

International terms and conditions of service apply.

Profile:

AAI is looking for a committed, capable and result-oriented candidate with solid experience in advising international level emergencies and conflict programmes within an INGO setting.

Knowledge of international humanitarian sector-practice, standards, policy trends, funding and co-ordination systems, specific skills relevant to emergency deployment (technical, conflict etc) and fundraising skills are required.

Networking and communications skills including experience with dealing with the media would be a plus.

A thorough understanding of the causes, dynamics and consequences of violent conflict and emergencies in region concerned as well as practical experience there is expected.

The incumbent must have civil society networks in region concerned working on conflict and humanitarian issues.

The incumbent needs to be able to support others and function effectively in difficult environments, remain calm under pressure and deal with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, be alert to danger and to opportunity and have a positive attitude.

Knowledge of local languages and French would be an added advantage.

Ability to travel extensively (around 50% time) at short notice and willingness to work in difficult and insecure areas for up to three months at a time is required.
