Edward J. Perkins Africa Scholarship

The Ambassador Edward J. Perkins Africa Scholarship was created to facilitate and enhance the development of future leaders who are cognizant of Africa and its importance in matters pertaining to a peaceful coexistence of nations.

This endowed scholarship assists University of Oklahoma students to pursue studies in Africa and for African university students to study at the University of Oklahoma.

Awards are given on a competitive basis to qualified undergraduate and graduate students.

The amount of each award is based on factors such as the student’s financial need, estimated program related costs such as travel and living expenses, and the number of approved applicants.

Scholarship applicants must meet the following specific criteria:

1. Junior level standing and a minimum one-year of study at OU by the time of participation.
2. Minimum GPA of 3.0 for undergraduates, 3.3 for graduates.
3. Eligible program destinations are limited to Africa for OU students, and limited to OU for students from African universities.
Recipients will be selected through application review and a personal essay.

Awards will be given out each spring on a competitive basis to qualified undergraduate and graduate students.
