Education Sector Coordinator Job Position in Kenya United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)

Post Title: Education Sector Coordinator

Post Level: National Officer (ICS-10)

Project: Somalia Support Secretariat

Duty Station: Nairobi, with frequent visits to Somali field operations

Duration: Initial six months with possibility of extension

Required Competencies & Knowledge

  • Sound leadership, managements and organizational skills.
  • Sound coordination skill in bringing parties together and providing an added value to the sector.
  • Experience in dealing with a variety of partners at all levels including donor community, civil society and national counterparts.

    Academic Qualifications/Experience/Language

  • Advanced degree in the Humanities, Education, development studies, or related fields
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and a capacity to build working coordination mechanisms
  • Five years of demonstrated managerial experience in development/post-conflict contexts of which a minimum of three years experience in, or on Somali programmes.
  • Cross-cultural working experience and demonstrated capacity to ensure delivery against agreed objectives within tight time frames
  • Demonstrated experience in achieving results in the field of education
  • Fluency in both written and oral English; Knowledge of Somali language is an asset.
  • IT skills for information management purposes
