The East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project (EHAHRDP) seeks to strengthen the work of human rights defenders (HRDs) throughout the region by reducing their vulnerability to the risk of persecution and by enhancing their capacity to effectively defend human rights.
It seeks to recruit:
1. Advocacy Officer
Qualifications:
Advanced University Degree (Human Rights, Social Sciences, Law, Development Studies, or International Relations) and extensive experience in human rights work.
Fluency in French and English (both written and spoken) required.
Proven knowledge of and/or work experience in the East and Horn of Africa sub-region.
Proven ability to write and speak concisely and clearly andcommunicate effectively.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
2. Program Officer
Qualifications:
University Degree (Human Rights, Social Sciences, Law, Development Studies, and International Relations) with not less than five extensive experience in Human Rights Work.
Advanced Information Technology Skills.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively ( about 40% of the time).
Commitment to gender equality as well as to cultural, ethnic, religious, sexual orientation etc equality.
Analytical skills as well as creative and interactive skills.
