DST/NRF Paid Internship Programme - South Africa

The Department of Science & Technology (DST) in partnership with the National Research Foundation (NRF) offers an internship opportunity to South African graduates and post-graduates in the Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) fields. Applications are invited from candidates within the following areas of specialization or disciplines:

  • Natural Sciences
  • Medical Sciences
  • Engineering
  • Science Education
  • Technology & Information Technology
  • Biological Sciences
  • SET Communication
  • Research & Development

    Qualifications:
    Only applicants with Bachelors degrees, Honuors, BTech and Masters qualifications may apply.

    Remuneration:
    Interns will receive a monthly salary of between R 4 950 to R 6 600 per month - depending on the level of qualification.

    Eligibility:
    Unemployed South African university graduates and post-graduates in the Science, Engineering, Technology (SET) fields. Applicants should not have been previously employed under any internship programme.

    How to Apply:
    Applications must be submitted on a Z83 form (obtainable from any Public Service Department).

    Applications must be accompanied by a covering letter that states the discipline or area of specialisation that the applicant is applying for, updated curriculum vitae, certified copies of original qualifications, academic transcripts and a copy of ID document.

    The internship programme is offered for a period of 12 months.

    Successful applicants will be required to sign an internship contract.
