DRC Gender Based Violence Specialist 

Location: Democratic Republic of the Congo

The ABA Rule of Law Initiative in the DRC requests a legal specialist with sound knowledge of ABA formalized legal assessment index tools, capable to develop a study on the judicial reform Index, the prosecutorial reform Index, and the adherence of Congolese criminal laws on GBV with the convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women (CEDAW) in the Maniema province of DRC·

The legal specialist should be able to proceed with a Gaps analysis/assessment between the Congolese GBV law, the culture barriers, the causes of GBV, the lack of justice and the constraints that lead to the non application of GBV laws or the impunity of the perpetrators of rapes and sexual violence.

The knowledge of the civil law system (French courts), the knowledge of English as reporting language and the knowledge of advanced French and /or Swahili for Field inquiries will be an asset for the assessment.
