The Ministry of Water and Irrigation (NWCPC) Mombasa is one of the Water Service Providers (WSP) mandated to provide cost effective and affordable quality water and sewerage services to the residents of Mombasa Municipality, within the jurisdiction of Coast Water Services Board.

With a view to enhance our service delivery within our Technical Services Division, we seek to recruit goal-oriented, self-motivated and qualified persons to fill the following management positions:-

Job Title

Civil Engineer (Water)

(Ref No.HR/CEW/09)

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the successful candidate's overall responsibility would be to design water distributions systems, wastewater systems and building structures for improvement of water and sanitation.

Key Result Areas/Principle Accountabilities and Duties

  • Prepare design of works.
  • Prepare contract documents and project reports.
  • Supervise project design implementation.
  • Participate in environmental audits.
  • Monitor and guide on industrial effluent discharge.
  • Provide leadership of department's operational, administrative and asset management to maximize efficiency.

    Person's Specifications

    For appointment to this position, a candidate MUST have:

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering (Water) from a recognized university
  • Registered Engineer
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in Water and Wastewater operations.
  • Excellent knowledge in computer-aided design applications
  • Knowledge in Environmental Audit will be an added advantage

    Job Title

    Sociologist

    Job Purpose

    Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the successful candidate will be to develop sustainable water and sanitation management systems in the informal settlements (low income) areas within the jurisdiction of Mombasa municipality.

    Key Result Areas/Principle Accountabilities and Duties

  • Develop a database for all informal settlements in Mombasa Municipality.
  • Monitoring and the evaluation of the projects
  • Communicate water and sanitation issues to residents in the informal settlements.
  • Organize sanitation/sensitization of the company policies and intended projects in the informal settlements
  • Incorporate the social component in any project
  • Identify all stakeholders and maintain a sustainable relationship with them
  • Ensure the achievements of the targets set
  • Communicate to the community on the steps taken during the implementation of the project
  • Ensure engagement of registered groups by signing all relevant documents
  • Prepare timely reports on ail activities in the informal settlements
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the management.

    Person's Specifications

    For appointment to this position, a candidate MUST have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work or any related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in water and sanitation services provision in informal settlements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Swahili languages
  • Excellent knowledge in computer office application packages.
  • These positions demand excellent people management and development skills, ability to work under pressure and effectively manage diverse teams to achieve set targets.
