About the role
It means working with diverse stakeholders from marginalised groups to government institutions to partners, to faith based groups and CSO allies to deliver programmes that enhance citizen empowerment and promote accountable use of power.
It involves doing advocacy for policies and practices that adequately address inequality and exclusion. It involves engaging in dialogue with various stakeholders to promote the democratic governance agenda as a precondition for sustainable and inclusive development.
It involves linking local Christian Aid partners in East Africa to Christian Aid’s corporate campaigns to fight inequality and injustice emanating from global structures. It involves contributing to the advocacy strategy of the EA programme in areas related to power and inequality.
It involves working with internal and external stakeholders to review impact of programmes with the aim of making them more effective in promoting transformational change towards equitable and just societies.
About you
You will be a persuasive communicator, capable of engaging all actors involved in development work in innovative ways and advance agendas for equality and social justice on the strength of your strategic vision.
Chances are you’re already working in a similar role with another NGO. Ideally that will be with an organisation currently working in Africa.
Either way you’ll have knowledge of socio-economic and political trends in East Africa, in particular issues related to power relations and inequality.
You will have a track record of engagement in policy analysis and advocacy work preferably on governance issues.
