Chief Pharmacist:

Duties:

The Chief Pharmacist will be responsible to the Director through the Deputy Director, Clinical Services for the following:-

  • Supervision of all staff in the Department of Pharmacy.

  • Formulation of policies on drug use in the Hospital in liaison with other relevant departments.

  • Planning and implementation of other policies that will improve the output of the Pharmacy Department in the Hospital and generally be responsible for organization, control and coordination of Pharmaceutical services in the Hospital.

  • Ensure compliance, by prescribers and dispensers, to the Hospital Drug Formulary.

    Requirements:

  • Possess a Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized University.

  • Be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board as a Pharmacist.

  • Should have served as Deputy Chief Pharmacist or equivalent position for at least three (3) years and shown outstanding administrative qualities and a high degree of capability and professional competence in organizing and running of Pharmaceutical services including monitoring the quality of drugs in a Hospital setting.

  • He/she should have a relevant post-graduate degree in Pharmacy, such as, clinical pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmaceutics.

  • A postgraduate qualification in Business Administration will be an added advantage.

  • Should have knowledge and experience in ISO Quality Management Systems.

  • Must be well versed with Information and Communication Technology.
