Catholic Agency for Overseas Development seeks to recruit:

1. East Africa Programme Support Officer Energy Facility

Working as part of the East Africa team you will support CAFOD partners in the implementation of the ACP-EU Energy Facility: Community Based Green Energy Project (CB-GEP) in Kenya.

You will have experience of working in development, preferably in an INGO context, knowledge of the country context, and ideally possess skills in programme cycle management, procurement (logistics support), financial management, energy technology, marketing, developing and appraising proposals, and project narrative and financial reporting.

You will be fluent in Kiswahili as well as English with excellent spoken and written communication and interpersonal skills, inter-cultural sensitivity and confidence in dealing with a wide range of Church and NGO partners. The post is based in Nairobi but will involve travel to the programme sites in Isiolo, Kajiado and Kitui. The post will also involve working in collaboration with a Private Sector Company in Kenya involved in Solar Technology.

2. Office Administrative Assistant

You will provide administrative, IT and financial support to CAFOD’s Nairobi team. You will also be responsible for providing efficient and accurate financial support to Finance Office. This also will include support with managing IT and HR.

You will be educated to at least degree level or equivalent, preferably in administration, finance and IT and be able to support with administration, finance and IT related work in the Office. We expect you to have good administrative, numeracy and IT skills.
The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate team working skills, sound financial management skills and administrative skills.

CAFOD currently seeks qualified persons to fill the position of:

1. Sustainable Livelihoods Programme Coordinator

We are now looking for someone to lead, plan, monitor and manage CAFOD’s sustainable livelihoods programme in South Sudan in line with the agreed strategy while developing relationships with partners.

A large part of the role consists in carrying out programme appraisal as well as the monitoring and reviews needed to implement and manage these. You will also represent CAFOD at programme level externally and act as the strategic relationship holder with partners and authorities.

The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of livelihoods programmes and able to integrate peace-building and HIV & AIDS into agricultural and income generation programmes. You should be able to deliver work effectively within the context of agreed programme frameworks and have extensive experience in programme cycle management.

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate substantive experience in managing and monitoring budgets, including complex multi-donor budgets and related reporting requirements. Due to the close relationship with partners, you should be able to carry out partner capacity assessments and identify support needs.

2. Head of Programmes - Darfur

We are currently recruiting a Head of Programmes for the NCA Darfur Programme, on behalf of Norwegian Church Aid. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a number of different humanitarian relief programmes.

The technical areas covered are Water & Sanitation, Health and Nutrition, School support, Agriculture, Peacebuilding, Protection and Psychosocial support (PPP) as well as Emergency Response sectors.

The Head of Programmes will need to have strong programme management experience including excellent planning and analytical skills and experience of reporting to a range of donors.

3. Head of Finance

The Head of Finance maintains and develops financial management for the NCA Darfur programme. You will provide sound financial advice to the senior management team and the local partners.

The post holder also ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements as relating to NCA routines and guidelines, donor requirements and national law and regulations.

We are looking for someone with a degree in accounting or similar discipline together with proven ability to manage the finance function in an NGO or international organisation, ideally overseas, incorporating accounting, budgeting, etc.

The successful candidate will have an ability to communicate with actors at all financial competence levels in the programme and donor networks.
Knowledge of Navision Attain (financial management system) is an essential component of the job as is a good understanding and experience of accounting in complex funding structures. The successful candidate will further have good interpersonal skills and a team oriented attitude.

We are looking for someone with excellent knowledge of MS Excel and Word, experience of working with modern financial systems, a high degree of initiative, motivation and flexible attitude and an aptitude for financial tasks and attention to detail.

Applicants will need to demonstrate good training, capacity building and management skills. It is essential that candidates also demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and in a stressful environment with an ability to work independently and with self-confidence.

An ability to interpret and apply rules to complex transactions is also essential. Excellent knowledge of oral and written English is essential.

4. Deputy Director

The Deputy Director will provide leadership and management support to the Darfur Director and the Senior Management Team (SMT) of the NCA Darfur Programme in order to achieve the agreed strategy, goals and annual plans for the programme in South and West Darfur and improving its ability to cope with additional demands resulting from changes in the context and operating environment.

The Deputy Director will be acting in the absence of the Director and will also provide interim cover for other departments when the senior managers are on leave or when posts are vacant.We are looking for an experienced humanitarian manager with a proven track record of managing high quality humanitarian programmes in complex emergency interventions and insecure environments.

You should have strong leadership and communication skills and a genuine commitment to developing staff. We expect you to demonstrate your capabilities in co-ordination of processes, staff management and the use of programme cycle management tools
