Bursaries for Sierra Leone Women in Education Program
This project is still in progress and its aims is to:
Increase the academic level of women teachers in order to increase their professional qualifications and their professional situation
Encourage women teachers to take up education leadership roles in the schools
Increase visibility for national teacher organizations and/or women’s networks
Expectation:
It is expected; more women teachers motivated to improve their academic and professional level
More positive role models for the girls in the schools
A highly knowledgeable and gender sensitive teaching population
Bursary recipients are active leaders in the promotion of women in their respective organizations contributing to develop a cadre of strong women leaders
Increased retention and success to women training to be teachers
Better living conditions and position in society for women
Good-will developed regarding the national unions and/or regional women’s networks
Financial assistance to pursue studies in education managed by special Bursary Committees of selected national teacher unions and/or women teachers’ networks.
Women teachers wishing to advance their studies in education or on short-term gender equality issues
