Assistant Logistics Manager

An exciting opportunity exists for a competent and experienced Technical Logistician to support our operational programme in DR Congo.

Applicants must be committed to Tearfund's evangelical Christian beliefs.

All posts involve potential contact with children and the recruitment process will include specific checks related to child protection issues.

Duties:

  • Corporate Policies, Management Systems and Procedures

  • Contribute towards the promotion and adherence to Tearfund’s Purpose, Basis of Faith, Core Values and Operating Principles.

  • Ensure internal management systems and policies are established, and monitor fieldbased operations to maintain compliance.

  • Advise the Logistics Manager of significant communications, IT and electrical and mechanical equipment issues affecting programme implementation and budgeting.

  • Ensure that logistics systems and procedures comply with all host country’s and relevant donor’s legal, contractual and statutory requirements, in particular relating to communications equipment licences.

  • Financial Management & Accounting

  • Human Resource Management for the Programme

  • Good Practice and Institutional Learning

  • External Relationships / Representation

  • Technical Support

  • Mechanical Equipment Management

    Requirements:

  • Degree and/or appropriate (equivalent) qualification

  • 3 years technical (sector specific) experience

  • 1 years driving experience

  • Associated Technical qualification in electrical and/or mechanical engineering

  • Recognised qualification in use of communications equipment;

  • MCP/MCSE (Microsoft Certified Professional/Systems Engineer) Analytical skills

  • Problem solving skills

  • Training skills

  • Excellent written and spoken English where fluency in French and/or Swahili is essential.

  • Ability to learn fast

  • Advanced computer/troubleshooting skills

  • Administrative skills

  • Ability to communicate confidently and comfortably about own personal faith

  • Full clean driving licence

  • Committed evangelical Christian
