The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme and the University of Edinburgh supports 4 students through the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme.

The awards are open to students from developing Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the United Kingdom.

Applicants should not be currently living or studying in a developed country and should be willing to return to their home country as soon as they have completed their period of study.

They should hold, or expect to attain, a UK first degree (Bachelor's degree) with at least upper second-class Honours (or the overseas equivalent).

Applications from students over 35 years old are not normally considered.

The scholarships cover tuition fees, living costs (including accommodation) and return airfares.

At the University of Edinburgh applications from students studying a one-year taught Master's degree African Studies are considered.
