TBNRM/Advocacy Coordinator

The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), an international conservation organization, invites applications for the post of TBNRM/Advocacy Coordinator for International Gorilla Conservation Programme (IGCP).

The International Gorilla Conservation Programme is a coalition of African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), Fauna and Flora International (FFI) and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and it works in Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo to ensure the long-term survival of the endangered Mountain Gorilla and its afromontane habitat.

The primary purpose of this position will be to support the IGCP programme in building specialized capacity for the Protected Area Authorities through the executive secretariat and at the protected area level, to develop and coordinate implementation of the IGCP advocacy for gorilla conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources across the region.

Requirements include:

  • At least a Masters degree in Natural Resources Management/ or in Policy development, institutional management and advocacy

  • At least 3 years of experience in senior position of administration and management with good experience in grant management

  • Experience in conservation or natural resource management will be advantageous

  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in both English and French(oral and written)

  • Work experience in Africa and especially in the African Great lakes region is advantageous

  • Capacity to work independently and with a multinational team

  • Computer skills in Windows, MS Word, Excel and Power point

    An initial contract of one year will be offered, with a competitive package and potential for renewal.
