A: Scholarships

  • Undergraduate Scholarships & Grants

    Undergraduate Scholarships & Grants comprises a list of international student scholarships including engineering scholarships, law scholarships & nursing scholarships. Each scholarship will offer tuition fees and an attractive stipend.

  • LLM Scholarships

    The following is a list of LLM scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need. All students in Africa are eligible to apply.

  • Erasmus Mundus Scholarships

    Erasmus Mundus Scholarships are offered by the European Union for study at various European Universities. Each successful student will be offerd tuition fees, monthly stipend and medical allowance as well as ravel allowance. Students from developing countries are eligible for these scholarships.

  • MBA Scholarships

    The following is a list of MBA scholarships. All students intending to take an MBA course are invited to apply. Candidates should have demonstrated academic excellence, career progression, leadership skills and management potential.

  • Huygens Scholarship Programme, Netherlands

    The HSP Huygens Scholarship Programme is open to students from all countries of the world. Scholarships are awarded for a period of no less than six months and no more than 24 months. monthly allowance of €900 euros (this includes a standard contribution towards healthcare nsurance). The scholarships will offer; visa fees, the full cost of tuition fees, a one-off payment towards international travel costs.

  • Distance Learning Masters Scholarships, University of Edinburgh

    The University of Edinburgh will offer nine Master's scholarships for eligible distance learning Master's programmes offered by the University. Each scholarship will have a total value of £5,000 which will be deducted from the tuition fee for the entire part-time programme of study.

  • Commonwealth Nassau Fellowship

    Commonwealth Nassau Fellowship is a scheme for African students to study in Britain. Preference is given to students who have not already obtained a first degree.

  • Scandinavian Workshop Sponsorship

    Funding is available to attend the Scandinavian Workshop on Algorithm Theory (SWAT). All interested persons are invited to submit papers presenting original research on algorithms and data structures.

  • The Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) MA Bursaries

    The Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) is offering two bursaries to full-time staff of Commonwealth Broadcasting Association's (CBA) member organisations from developing countries. The bursaries are part sponsored by the Chevening Programme of the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Westminster and City Universities, International Students House, Goodenough College, and the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association.

  • Highway Africa Awards

    The awards are given annually at the Highway Africa Conference to recognise and promote the creative, innovative and appropriate use of new media technology in Africa. Judges are looking for innovative applications of New Media in African journalism and the media.

  • Courage in Journalism Awards

    The Courage in Journalism Awards honor women working in the news media who have demonstrated extraordinary strength of character in pursuing their profession under difficult or dangerous circumstances. Each awardee will receive a cash award of at least $5,000.

  • Mesothelioma Memorial Scholarships

    The $500 Mesothelioma Memorial Scholarships are offered four times per year. $500 scholarship is offered every three months. International Candidates can also apply. You can apply if you're currently attending or planning to attend a post-high school educational program.

  • Google Europe Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship

    Google aims to encourage women to excel in computing and technology, and become active role models and leaders. The scholarship recipients, selected from the finalists, will each receive a $10,000 (or equivalent) scholarship.

  • Sexuality Leadership Development Fellowships

    The Africa Regional Sexuality Resource Centre (ARSRC) calls for applications from Africans to its annual Sexuality Leadership Development Fellowship (SLDF) Programme. ARSRC scholarships cover tuition fees, post-fellowship grant, roundtrip travel expenses, as well as accommodation, meals, and incidental expenses.

  • Scenarios from frica AIDS Contest

    Scenarios from Africa is inviting young people aged 24 years and younger to submit creative, original ideas for a film of up to 5 minutes in length, about HIV and AIDS. Thirty winners, or teams, will each receive a medal, a personalised certificate, a Scenarios from Africa DVD set, a prize of US$125 (EU€100), as well as the possibility to have a film based on their idea made and shown on television.

  • Undergraduate Business Scholarship, The University of Queensland, Brisbane

    Four one-year scholarships, each valued at $1500, are available from the University of Queensland Business School and School of Tourism to be awarded to outstanding International students. Previous study of business, business communication, commerce or computing, hospitality, sport, travel, tourism at school or college is not a requirement for application for the scholarships.

  • The Volvo Adventure Award

    The Volvo Adventure Award is open to young people around the world aged between 13 and 16 years. The best projects each year are invited to the final conference in Göteborg (Gothenburg), Sweden. The best projects will be awarded; 1st prize of 10,000 USD, 2nd prize of 6,000 USD and 3rd prize of 4,000 USD.

  • Clive Menell Fellowships, South Africa

    This is a fellowship for journalists. It provides an opportunity for two South African journalists to participate in a three-week programme of discussion and study on international media issues.

  • International Young Eco-Hero Award

    The winners of Action For Nature (AFN) International Young Eco-Hero Awards program receive a cash prize and a special certificate, as well as public recognition on the AFN website and elsewhere.

  • MSc Scholarships at Strathclyde University

    Applications are invited for MSc Scholarships at Strathclyde University. The scholarships will pay tuition fees, livings costs and air fares. Candidates from developing commonwealth countries of outstanding academic calibre who have not previously studied in a developed country may apply. The Scholarship covers tuition fees, livings costs and air fares.

  • The Nottingham MBA Chevening Top-Up Scholarship Scheme, UK

    The Nottingham MBA chevening top-up scholarship scheme provides additional funds for British Council chevening scholars. International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (ICCSR) will be providing scholarships and bursaries but requires that you should have applied for the scholarship by 30 May 2008.

  • Knight International Journalism Fellowships

    The Knight International Journalism Fellowships seeks qualified applicants to work on a number of targeted projects. This fellowship is open to any nationality.

  • Mesothelioma Memorial Scholarships

    The $500 Mesothelioma Memorial Scholarships are offered four times per year. The scholarship is offered every three months. International Candidates can also apply.

  • International Tuition Fee Scholarship, University of Nottingham

    The University of Nottingham is offering an award of one full Tuition Fee Scholarship for a new international student registering on a research degree programme in the School of Mathematical Sciences at The University of Nottingham from September 2008. The scholarship is for each year of a PhD or MPhil research programme, subject to satisfactory progress.

  • PhD Studentship in Design - The Intelligent Well systems Technology group, UK

    The Intelligent Well systems Technology group is looking for one or ore PhD students to work in the area of modelling and evaluation of advanced downhole hardware used in hydrocarbon production. The studentship is available to African candidates. It includes fees and an appropriate stipend.

  • Harold White Fellowships, National Library of Australia, Canberra, Australia

    Fellowships are open to international researchers or writers in any discipline in which the Library has strong collections. Fellowships are awarded once only to each individual: subsequent applications cannot be considered.

  • Master and Doctoral Scholarships in Civil Engineering, King Abdulaziz University, Saudia Arabia

    Accepted applicants are supported through the Graduate Assistantship Program of King Abdulaziz University. The program provides awarded students with the following: tuition waiver, a monthly stipend of 2000 Saudi Riyals (US$ 533), housing in the university dorms.

  • PhD Scholarships, University of Roma La Sapienza, Rome, Italy

    The Università di Roma “La Sapienza” offers 6 PhD fellowships for attaining the degree of “Dottore di Ricerca” (Ph. D.). Each fellowship amounts to 16,590 € per year (net of government taxes).

  • PhD Scholarship in Ocean Engineering, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia

    The Università di Roma “La Sapienza” offers 6 PhD fellowships for attaining the degree of “Dottore di Ricerca” (Ph. D.). Each fellowship amounts to 16,590 € per year (net of government taxes).

  • Aircraft Noise Research Fellow, University of Southampton

    A post-doctorate researcher is required to work on a UK Airbus Technology Programme for an initial period of two years starting on 01 April 2008. The Salary will range from £25,134 - £27,466 p.a.

  • PhD Scholarships at The IT University of Copenhagen - Denmark

    The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) invites applications for a number of PhD scholarships starting in the summer of 2008 in any of the research groups represented at ITU. The PhD scholarships run for a period of three or four years depending on the educational level of the student.

  • PhD Scholarships at Munich Graduate School of Economics, Germany

    The Munich Graduate School of Economics (MGSE) offers a three-year Ph.D. program in Economics to outstanding young graduates. Graduates need to prove a strong quantitative background as well as interest and ability to conduct independent research.

  • PhD Positions in cryo-Electron Tomography, Delft, Netherlands

    The candidate must have a strong background in physics and mathematics and hold a MSc. degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Maximum salary amount in Euro’s a month is 2457.

  • Mohamedali Karimjee Trust

    Mohamedali Karimjee Trust offers grants to African students to study in the UK. All interested students are invited to apply.

  • Bloomsbury Colleges PhD Studentships

    The Bloomsbury Colleges consortium will be offering twelve PhD studentships, each of three years duration, to start October. The studentships will cover course fees (at the usual level for UK and EU studentships) and a student stipend.

  • PhD Studentship at the School of Build Environment, University of Salford, UK

    Applications are invited for a PhD research studentship at the Research Institute of the Built and Human Environment, School of the Built Environment University of Salford. The Studentship will involve frequent travel between Manchester and London (case study site) and the candidate should be willing to undertake frequent extensive travel to attend project meetings and for data collection (all travel costs will be reimbursed).

  • PhD and Postdoc Positions at University of Bremen - Germany

    The Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) invites applications to its Ph.D. and Post-doc program. Post-doc stipends of 1500/month may run from 3 to 12 months.

  • PhD Scholarships at Munich School of Economics - Germany

    The Munich Graduate School of Economics (MGSE) offers a three-year Ph.D. program in Economics to outstanding young graduates. Graduates need to prove a strong quantitative background as well as interest and ability to conduct independent research.

  • PhD Studentship at University of Surrey, UK

    This studentship is available immediately and covers both tuition fees and a maintenance grant for 3 years. The studentship is available for International students and will include tuition fees and an annual bursary of approximately £12,800.

  • Postdoctoral Fellowships, The Harriman Institute of Columbia University, USA

    The Harriman Institute of Columbia University announces two postdoctoral fellowships for the academic year 2008-9 for the study of Russian/Soviet influence in the Mediterranean Area. In addition to the stipend and a research space, fellows have access to Columbia University research facilities.

  • Post Doctoral Fellow in Catchment Modelling-Water Quality, Hamilton - New Zealand

    This is an opportunity to undertake research on a two year Post-doctoral grant on the modelling of diffuse pollution from catchments. The Post-Doc provides funding for research projects, and in addition provides the opportunity to contribute to NIWA research programmes and high-level consulting activities.

  • PhD Studentship in Fluids Engineering, The Norwegian University of Science and Technology

    PhD students follow code 1017, grade 43 - 47, gross NOK 325 600 to NOK 348 900 per year (before tax). PhD students are normally remunerated at wage level 43. The PhD candidate possesses good knowledge of fluid dynamics/fluid physics, good knowledge of scientific computing, and good programming skills.Some acquaintance with multiscale.



    B: Grants for NGOs

  • Malaria Advocacy Innovation Grants - Mobilising for Malaria

    These grants support ideas and partnerships that aim to reach new audiences in creative ways and to tackle issues such as equity, transparency, and accountability in Africa. Applicants must identify clearly in their application the geographic area and groups they propose to reach through their project.

  • MacArthur Human Rights and International Justice grants - Nigeria

    The grants support leading human rights organisations, both nationally and in selected states. The grant support for human rights totals approximately $11 million over a period of five years.

  • Hivos Fund

    Hivos provides financial and political support to local private organisations in more than thirty countries in Africa. In order to be hivoseligible for funding the applicant organisation needs to operate in African countries.

  • Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust

    Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust generally funds work under one of the programme headings listed here. There are varied dates for the application deadline, please follow the link for more information.
