A: Scholarships

  • OPEC Fund Scholarship Award

    The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) is pleased to announce its Scholarship Award to support undergraduate students from developing countries in pursuit of higher education. The winner will receive a scholarship of up to $100,000, spread over a maximum of two years.

  • Altrusa International Foundation Grants

    This grant is open to third world women who are seeking graduate degrees at recognized colleges or universitites in the US.

  • VLIR Scholarships in Belgium

    Each year, up to 180 scholarships are available to first-year students. This opportunity is open to residents of developing countries.

  • Graduate Women In Science Grants and Fellowships

    Applications are invited from to women of outstanding ability intending to increase knowledge in fundamental sciences. Awards will be made irrespective of race, religion, nationality, creed, national origin, sexual orientation, or age.

  • MSc in Nutritional Sciences Scholarship

    The MSc in Nutritional Sciences Scholarship is available for academically outstanding candidates who lack funding. The MSc in Nutritional Sciences Scholarships are intended for candidates from developing countries.

  • Wildlife Conservation Society Grants

    Grants to support wildlife conservation field research in Africa, Asia, and Latin America (including Mexico) are available. Grants are for up to $25,000, and are for one year.

  • MSc in Plant Sciences Scholarship

    The scholarships are awarded between $1,000 - $4,000, and will cover the cost of transportation to and from Israel. The MSc in Plant Sciences Scholarships are intended for candidates from developing countries.

  • International Foundation for Science (IFS) Grants

    Applications for IFS Research Grants are welcome from young students in developing countries. Application deadline approaching fast. All interested students should send their applications by 31 December.

  • The Christensen Fund

    The Christensen Fund (TCF) invites applications from institutions based anywhere in the world for grants within the framework of the Global Biocultural Initiative. Maximum grant size at this time is $200,000 over two years.

  • The Ramsar Convention Small Grants Fund

    The Ramsar Small Grants Fund was established as a mechanism to assist developing countries and those with economies in transition in implementing the Convention and to enable the conservation and wise use of wetland resources. Successful proposals receive 80% of the allocated funds upon signature of the contract and the remainder upon submission of an adequate final report.

  • Journalism and Democracy Scholarships

    Sida will offer a scholarship covering participation fee and accommodation and cover costs for international travel to and from Sweden for the participants. The main objective of the program is to scrutinize the role of the media in democratic processes and strengthen the position of free and independent journalism.

  • Malaysian International Scholarship for Undergraduate Studies

    Malaysian International Scholarship for Undergraduate Studies offers opportunities to an excellent and outstanding young students to pursue their higher education in Malaysian universities. It is required that the applicant be in good health and be certified fit medically by a certified Doctor/Medical Professional of the bilateral partner country.

  • Grants for Young Scientists

    IFS is calling for researchers interested in working in teams on topics related to linkages between water management, food production, poverty, and the environment. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in partnership with others from different research backgrounds.

  • The Folk high school Memorial Fund

    The Folk high school Memorial Fund provides a scholarship for one year at a Norwegian Folk high school. This scholarship is established to promote cultural exchange between foreign countries and the Norwegian folk high schools.

  • Arthur Helton Fellowship Program

    The Arthur Helton Fellowship Program program will assist students and young lawyers to pursue their first opportunities to engage in human rights work and research. Applicants can be of any nationality. The successful applicant's proposal will involve affiliation with an NGO or human rights organization.

  • IB bursary fund

    The International Baccalaureate(IB) bursary fund provides short-term grants for schools experiencing financial challenges or wanting to increase access to International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. Grants are short term, valid for one year with a possible extension to two years maximum.

  • Global Infectious Disease Research Training Program

    This program was developed to address research training needs related to infectious diseases that are predominantly endemic in or impact upon people living in developing countries. The applicants should be citizens of developing country.

  • WDS International Travel Grant Program

    The Women's Dermatologic Society (WDS) will provide a Travel Grant of up to $2,500 to each awardee. Preferences will be given to those with financial constraints. Applicants must prepare a budget which may include reasonable travel expenses, necessary tuition, appropriate housing expenses.

  • Mama Cash Grants

    Mama Cash wants to change the world and therefore invests in women who, in spite of the dangers, believe in ideals and struggle for justice and change. Mama Cash, pays for office costs, staff costs, and capacity building of the organisation and its staff and volunteers.

  • Girls Global Education Fund

    Girls Global Education Fund (GGEF) provides scholarships to girls in developing countries who would otherwise be unable to attend school. Scholarships are given to girls in primary school, junior high and high school.

  • MA by Research in Sustainable Design scholarship

    The Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture is offering two annual scholarships for its MA by Research in Sustainable Design programme. The MA by Research program offers tuition fees and a maintenance and travel grant of £11,000.

  • Commonwealth Scholarships

    Scholarships are being offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (UK) for citizens of other Commonwealth countries to undertake study in the United Kingdom. To be eligible for an award the candidates must be available, by 1 October 2008, to commence their academic studies in the United Kingdom.

  • Reuters Foundation Fellowships

    The Reuters Foundation Fellowship Programme offers fully funded Fellowships to journalists from throughout the world. Around 25 journalists from around the globe study in Oxford each year on Fellowships of either three, six or nine months, covering one, two or all three terms of the academic year.

  • International Travel Grant Award Program

    APS is now accepting applications for the International Travel Grant Award Program (ITGAP). The amount of the award is up to US$2,000 for travel and lodging expenses for international travel while visiting a collaborator.

  • Anthony Thompson Award

    The Anthony Thompson Award enables a qualified librarian from outside the UK to visit and study some aspects of UK library and information work. Applicants should have at least five years experience and have not made a previous professional visit to the UK.

  • Gambia Biomedical Sciences scholarship

    This is a three year scholarship for the full-time BSc Honours Biomedical Sciences. The scholarship offers full tuition fee waiver, accommodation, living expenses and annual flights to and from London.

  • Scholarships for MSc and PhD studies

    A limited number of scholarships are available to begin in 2008, with additional opportunities to begin in 2009. Successful applicants will have broad flexibility to undertake their thesis research within the scope of the CSAG climate change research profile.

  • Finnish Government Scholarships

    The Finnish Government offers scholarships of 3-9 months for postgraduate studies, research and teaching at a higher education institution in Finland. The ideal candidate should be able to give proof of sufficient skills in speaking and writing the language needed in study/research.

  • WIGS small travel grants

    WIGS is able to provide a contribution towards the travel costs of postgraduates attending a WIGS annual meeting. WIGS shall also support students who are within three years of completing a course and have no other source of funding.

  • PhD Studentship in Immunology, Imperial College London - UK

    Applications are invited for a PhD studentship funded by the European Union, Europrise Consortium for 3 years in the Department of Immunology, Imperial College London. The studentship is available immediately. The stipend is £16,000 per annum.

  • Dudley D Ewes Scholarships

    The Dudley D Ewes Scholarships of up to the value of R10 000 each for post-honours studies are awarded annually. They are open to all in possession of a University Honours degree and candidates must potentially contribute to the fulfilment of the Foundation’s mission.

  • PhD Studentships at The Aarhus School of Business

    At the Department of Economics at Aarhus School of Business, University of Aarhus, a number of PhD scholarships will be available from January 1, 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter. During the programme, the PhD student is further expected to gain teaching experience within the subject area as well as experience with other forms of dissemination of research results.

  • Full PhD Scholarship in Environmental Engineering, University of Edinburgh - UK

    Applications are invited for a full PhD Scholarship in Environmental Engineering University of Edinburgh, UK. The successful candidate will have a 1st or 2.1 honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and will ideally have a proven commitment to working in field and laboratory environments.

  • PhD Student Position in Air Quality Modeling

    The Paul Scherrer Institut, Switzerland is offering a PhD Student position in the field of Air quality modeling. Good communication skills in English are required and in German beneficial.

  • Vacant PhD Position in Numerical Modeling of Atmospheric Chemical Processes at the University of Bonn - Germany

    A PhD position is available at the Meteorological Institute of the University of Bonn. Experience with numerical modeling of atmospheric processes. Skills in Linux, FORTRAN, IDL or others is one of the requirements.

  • PhD Positions at The Earth System Sciences Research School

    Applications are invited for International PhD-Programme on Earth System Science in Germany. Students have the opportunity to obtain their PhD degree at the University of Bremen or Jacobs University.
