A. Scholarships
Applications are invited for Stockholm Challenge 2008. The programme features six category awards for ICT for development projects and a chance to win the Stockholm Challenge Trophies.
2. National Geographic Society Grants - Research and Exploration Grants The National Geographic Society awards grants for scientific field research and exploration. Grant amount ranges from U.S. $15,000 to $20,000.
3. The 2007 Global Development Awards and Medals Competition The Global Development Network is now accepting submissions for the Eighth Annual Global Development Awards and Medals Competition 2007. The Competition is open to researchers from developing and transition countries.
4. Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development The Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development is for outstanding research proposals that provide new dimensions to development research on any of the five selected themes. Citizens and permanent residents of developing or transition countries who are based in these regions or who are temporarily based in a developed country for no more than 5 years are eligible.
5. Medals for Research on Development Global Development Network invites researchers to submit excellent completed research papers this award. The three themes are listed here. Citizens and permanent residents of developing or transition countries or who are temporarily based in a developed country for no more than five years are eligible.
6. Victoria Masters by Thesis & PhD Scholarships Applications are invited for Victoria Masters by Thesis & PhD Scholarships. The scholarships are awarded on academic merit and are open to all Students Worldwide. The award Amounts to NZ $20,000 per annum.
7. MBA in International Business Scholarship Competition, MIB School of Management, Italy MIB School of Management of Trieste, Italy is pleased to announce a scholarship competition for applicants to the XVIII Edition of the MBA in International Business. The Scholarships will go toward tuition fees to attend the XVIII edition of the MBA in International Business programme (September 2007 - September 2008).
8. 20 MBA/ PGP Scholarships Study Option in INDIA, US, UK Aegis offers a one year MBA/ PGP program in association with Schiller International University. To be eligible for Scholarship you need to have 2 years of min real life experience and final admission offer letter from Aegis-Schiller.
9. MSc Mental Health Services Research, King's College University of London - UK Applications are ivited from graduates wishing to pursue careers in the mental health field and from mental health practitioners, at Kings College University of London, UK. A 2:1 relevant first degree and/or registerable qualification appropriate to the programme in medicine and/or professional qualification is required.
10. MSc in Socio-Legal Studies, University of Bristol - UK Applications are invited for a one-year Postgraduate Student Award at University of Bristol, designed to provide financial support for a student with an interest in conducting research in the field of miscarriages of justice. The stipend attached to this award is £5,000. In addition, the MSc degree tuition fee will be waived.
11. MSc in Research Methods in Psychology, University of Kent The Centre for Research in Health Behaviour in the Department of Psychology at the University of Kent is offering a Studentship for the MSc in Research Methods in Psychology. The successful candidate will have the fees paid for the MSc by Pfizer and also be offered the opportunity of paid work experience in the Global Outcomes Research Department, Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals in Sandwich, Kent (£18,000 pro rata) for a minimum of 3-months.
12. Global Human Rights Grants The Fund for Global Human Rights provides grants to non- governmental, non-profit organizations working to promote respect for human rights in the countries and regions in which they are based. To be eligible for funding, an organization must work to defend or promote human rights and be based in countries from which proposals are sought.
13. International Scholarships at the University of Worcester, UK New International students aiming to study at the University of Worcester this academic year are invited to apply for a substantial £2,000 scholarship. Successful applicants will have to demonstrate examples of academic achievement and excellence within their application form and additional supporting statement.
14. Third Round of Alcoa Foundation Fellowship The World Conservation Union is calling for qualified mid-career conservation and sustainable development practitioners from NGOs to submit proposals for applied research.
The CDVP is seeking a MSc/PhD research student to join the “iCLIPS: Integrating Context through Annotation and Linking in Information Retrieval for Personal Information Archives” project. Candidates for this position should have a first or upper second degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as computing science or cognitive science with an interest in information retrieval, human-computer interaction or memory studies.
EPFL and Swiss National Science Foundation invite applications for several Ph.D. fellowships in the area of theoretical particle physics. The candidates should have obtained a Master in Physics by the starting date.
17. Fully funded PhD Studentship at University of Worcester, UK Applicants are invited to apply for this 3 year fully-funded PhD studentship at University of Worcester. The successful applicant will receive a bursary of £12,300 per annum for a period of 3 years.
18. PhD Studentship in Psychology, Northumbria University, UK Applications are now invited for PhD studentship in Psychology at Northumbria University, UK. Applications are invited from candidates holding or expecting 1st class or 2(i) degrees (or equivalents) in appropriate subject areas.
19. PhD Position in Mathematics/Analysis, Graz University of Technology, Austria The Austrian Science Fund (FWF) is funding a 3 research project in Nonlinear Subdivision Algorithms at the Institute of Geometry at TU Graz for three years. Applicants should have a masters degree in Mathematics and a good working knowledge of analysis.
20. PhD Scholarship in Health and Human Sciences, University of Essex, UK The Department of Health and Human Sciences at the University of Essex invites applications for a three-year PhD scholarship starting in October 2007. The successful applicant will receive an annual allowance towards tuition fees and maintenance, of up to £10,000 for full-time study.
21. Ph.D. Student in Distributed Algorithms at ETH Zurich Germany Highly motivated computer scientists with a strong algorithmic background (and a Masters degree in Computer Science or Mathematics) are being sought for a PhD studentship at ETH Zurich, Germany. Successful candidates are expected to work towards a doctoral degree, and participate in the teaching activities of the group.
