A. Scholarships

1. Six full scholarships for distance learning MSc, CSC, UK

There are 6 scholarships available to study by distance learning for the Water and Environmental Management MSc programme at Loughborough University, UK. These awards are also available to students who have already started their research work for support during their second and subsequent years.

2. Warwick Business School Masters Scholarships, University of Warwick - UK

Warwick Business School is offering funding awards for exceptional candidates for this Masters course. The awards will cover full fees and in some cases a contribution towards maintenance will also be given.

3. University College London(UCL) Global Excellence Scholarship

UCL Global Excellence Scholarships aim to reward academic excellence among new UCL students. The scholarships consist of £5,000, and are tenable for one year only. Late awards (MPhil/PhD only) may be possible should a suitable candidate not be found at the main selection.

4. The Africa Thesis Award

The African Studies Centre (ASC), the Netherlands institute for Southern Africa (NiZA) and the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) are offering you the chance to win €4000 in The Africa Thesis Award. Any final-year student who has completed his/her Masters thesis with distinction at a university in Africa can apply.

5. L. S. B. Leakey Foundation Grants

L. S. B. Leakey Foundation grants and fellowships awards up to $12,000 per year for up to two years to scholars with African citizenship who seek an advanced degree or specialized training in an area related to human origin research. They support Fellowships; Foreign applicants; Postdoctoral support; Research.

6. Wildlife Conservation Society Grants

About 17 grants every year are awarded to support wildlife conservation field research in Africa, Asia, and Latin America (including Mexico). Grants are for up to $25,000, and are for one year.

7. Farnell International design competition

Premier Farnell plc, has launched a major international design competition called 'Live Edge' - Electronic Design for the Global Environment. US $100,000 prize announced for first international environmental design.

8. MSc Scholarship 2007 - 2008 in Clinical Neurology, University College London, UK

The MSc in Clinical Neurology is a 12 month full-time course offered at University College London, UK. This course is suitable for doctors intending to pursue a professional career in clinical or academic neurology.

9. New Zealand Development Scholarships

The NZDS scheme offers the opportunity to people from developing countries to study in priority sector courses at New Zealand universities. Scholarships are offered for postgraduate study at the Postgraduate Diploma, Masters or Doctorate (PhD) levels.

10. ORS Awards for Mphil/PhD students

The British Government provides a number of awards each year to assist students in meeting the cost of the overseas rate of tuition fee where it applies - normally the amount given is the difference between that and the home rate of fee. These awards are available to students of any nationality who are accepted for registration for the MPhil/PhD degree.

11. Young Communicators Fund

The Institute for Humane Studies will award small grants to advanced students and recent graduates pursuing non-academic careers to help them take advantage of strategic short-term opportunities that can enhance their abilities and credentials to pursue careers that involve the communication of ideas. Actual grant amounts often vary with particular circumstances, though most grants fall below $500.

12. James & Eunice Doty PTP/Congressional Award Scholarship - USA

At the end of each calendar year, four scholarships are awarded to junior high and high school students who have earned the Congressional Award that year. The scholarship includes all program fees and international and domestic airfare.

13. PhD Scholarships at Singapore, The University of New South Wales, Asia

UNSW Asia is inviting suitably qualified, highly motivated candidates to apply for PhD positions various disciplines listed here. Up to 20 full scholarships are available each year to outstanding candidates, showing potential for research.

14. Full Time Research Positions at The Institute of Statistics, Université Catholique de Louvain

The Institute of Statistics of the Université catholique de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, is offering 2 full time PhD grants for a period of 1 year, three times renewable. Degree in mathematics or physics, engineer in applied mathematics, commercial engineer, engineer in agronomy, degree or masters in applied economical sciences (quantitative orientation).

15. PhD Position in Gravitational Lensing and Radio Astronomy, Universitaet Bonn, Germany

Applications are invited for a PhD position for three years in the newly established research group ‘Radio lenses’ led by Dr. Olaf Wucknitz at the ‘AIfA’ in Bonn. The ideal applicant will have a good background in astrophysics and a special interest in the fields of gravitational lensing and/or radio interferometry.

16. PhD Position in Wildlife Management, Virginia Tech, USA

A Ph.D position is available to begin in August 2007 or January 2008 in Wildlife Management project at Virginia Tech, USA. The suitable person must have completed MS degree.

17. PhD and Postdoctoral Positions, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Germany

Applications are invited from outstanding individuals for one post-doctoral and four PhD positions to support core interdisciplinary research teams at PIK. PIK values diversity and encourages applications from women, disabled people, and minority groups. All positions are for two years initially with the possibility of extension.

18. PhD Studentship in Numerical Modelling of Processes Exhibiting Layer Phenomena, National University of Ireland, Cork

Applications are invited for a PhD studentship at National University of Ireland, Cork, to work on a mathematical modelling project that also involves significant amounts of numerical computation. The studentship includes an annual salary of EUR18,000, plus Ph.D. fees at NUIC, and there is additional generous support for travel.

19. PhD Position in Flow Control, University of the Armed Forces, Munich, Germany

A PhD position is available at the Numerical Analysis group at the department of aerospace sciences, University of the Armed Forces (UniBw), Munich.

20. PhD in Telecommunications at Lund University - Sweden

An opportunity is available at Lund University, Sweden for research and teaching in the area of digital communication theory. Lund University encourages both men and women to apply for the position. Salary is determined on an individual basis within certain guidelines for this type of position.

21. PhD Studentships in Autism research, King’s College London, UK

Applications are invited for 2 full time PhD studentships based at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London. Applicants should have at least a 2.1 degree in psychology and have previous experience of working with people with autism or intellectual disability.

22. PhD Scholarship Software Engineering - Syddansk Universitet, Denmark

The Maersk Institute, University of Southern Denmark, Odense is offering a PHD position in the area of software engineering, with a special focus on modular robotics. In the assessment of the application, attention will be paid to expertise in embedded systems, as well as programming language and software engineering techniques.

23. PhD Studentships in Food Science, University of Leeds - UK

Four studentships are available for 3 years at University of Leeds - UK, and include payment of tuition fees and a postgraduate stipend of approximately £13,000 per annum. It is a requirement that overseas students have achieved a minimum level of English language proficiency (an IELTS score of 6.0, a paper-based TOEFL score of 550, or a computer-based TOEFL score of 220).

24. PhD Scholarships in Economics, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark

The Department of Economics at Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, invites applications for four vacant PhD scholarships in Economics. To be awarded a scholarship, one must be enrolled as a PhD student.

25. PhD Studentship in Engine Aircraft Noise, University of Southampton, UK

Fully funded EPSRC/Rolls-Royce studentship is available to conduct research at ISVR on jet noise from aircraft engines. The studentship would provide support at standard EPSRC rates (currently *£12,300* p.a.), UK/EU tuition fees and a further* £5000* p.a. supplement from Rolls-Royce plc.

26. PhD Positions in Nanooptics, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden

The Division of Bionanophotonics at the Department of Applied Physics, Chalmers University of Technology, now seeks two doctoral students in nanooptics. International applicants may also be eligible for a 4-year PhD-student scholarship, in which case there are no teaching duties.

28. Phd Studentship in Mathematics at Cardiff University, UK

30. Postdoctoral Fellow in Developmental Child Psychology, Université Laval, Canada

Université Laval, Canada is now offering a Postdoctoral Fellow in Developmental Child Psychology. The applicant is required to be knowledgeable in the factors predicting academic persistence and success.

31. Postdoctoral Position in Cardiovascular Imaging, Yale University, USA

Postdoctoral research position available, effective immediately, in Cardiovascular Imaging at Yale University. Applicant should hold Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, and have strong background in bioengineering, cardiovascular physiology with some experience in animal surgery, or imaging.

32. Postdoctoral Position in Computational Neuroscience, Northwestern University, USA

A postdoctoral position is available at Northwestern University to develop computer simulations of deep brain stimulation. Programming experience is a must, but prior experience in parallel computing is not required.

33. Postdoctoral Research Associate at Food Policy Institute, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey - USA

A postdoctoral position is available at the Food Policy Institute, a research unit of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Preferred qualifications include experience with food safety, food contamination, terrorism or risk communication research.

34. Postdoctoral Position in Cancer Biology, Thomas Jefferson University - USA

A Postdoctoral Position in Cancer Biology is available at Jefferson University - USA. Preferred applicants will have experience and publications in cancer biology, molecular biology, and/or biochemistry.

35. Postdoctoral Fellow in Behavioural Ecology, University of Sydney, Australia

University of Sydney, Australia is currently seeking a results-driven Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research into a project that will determine the mechanisms by which ants and honeybees solve dynamic problems when foraging. To succeed, the appointee will have a relevant PhD, an interest in evolution, and experience in animal behaviour.
