APHRC Jobs

Location: Nairobi, Kenya.

APHRC Jobs: The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a non-profit, non-governmental international organization committed to conducting high quality and policy-relevant research on population and health issues facing sub-Saharan Africa.

The Center seeks to recruit a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of:

1. Post-Doctoral Fellow

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Sociology, Demography, Public Health or a related discipline, with interest in SRHR in sub-Saharan Africa in general, and Kenya in particular;
  • Good writing skills and record of publications on population and SRHR;
  • Mix of quantitative and qualitative research skills;
  • Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Statistical Packages (e.g. STATA, SPSS) and qualitative data analysis software (e.g. NUDIST).

    2. Program Manager

    Qualifications:

  • PhD-level training in a relevant social or health science discipline including Population Studies, Public Health, Policy Studies, Sociology, Education Administration or other related fields.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in an academic or research institution.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of French is an asset.
  • Some level of familiarity with economics, econometrics and impact evaluation.
  • Able to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
  • Experience working with donors, university academics, graduate students and top university administrators at various levels, including the Vice Chancellor.
