AMCOW AfricaSan Awards

AMCOW or the African Ministers’ Council on Water is organizing the AMCOW AfricaSan Awards 2009 for recognizing sanitation and hygiene achievements in Africa.

It recognizes the outstanding achievements made by organizations and individuals in Africa in the area of hygiene and sanitation that result in large-scale, sustainable behavior changes and tangible impacts.

The awards are part of the AfricaSan Movement, which is a regional initiative led by AMCOW that works to “place sanitation and hygiene at the top of the development agenda in Africa.

The African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) is pleased to invite entries for the maiden AfricaSan Awards competition.

This announcement is for the first set of award categories: Leadership and Ministerial Award; Technical Innovation Award; and, the NGO/Civil Society Award.

Those interested may nominate themselves or other individuals or institutions.

Nominations should include the name and contact details of the nominee, and a short statement (no more than 500 words) about their work and why they deserve the award.

The nominees must be involved in sanitation and hygiene-related activities within Africa.

Deadline: 9th October
