The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) is working with African governments, donors, NGOs, the private sector and African farmers to significantly and sustainably improve the productivity and incomes of resource poor farmers in Africa through agricultural development targeted at resource poor farmers.
Associate Program Officer
The overall role of this position is to oversee the implementation of the Project in Kenya and Tanzania.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Developing and reviewing the Project implementation framework including the implementation strategy, detailed annual work plans and budgets;
Ensuring that the Project is integrated with the other on-going AGRA projects in Kenya and Tanzania;
Overseeing the actual implementation process and providing relevant technical backstopping;
Monitoring, evaluating and supervising the Project activities;
Providing regular periodic reports as may be required by the Government of Sweden and AGRA;
Documenting and knowledge-sharing of the Project’s success stories, best practices and lessons learnt;
Developing a scaling up and sustainability strategy and plan for the Project; and
Carrying out administrative functions such as coordination of periodic audits, stakeholder forums, etc.
Key Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related field.
At least 5 years’ relevant experience in development financial activities (rural or agricultural finance), private sector development (microfinance institutions, banks or private equity funds) or public sector financing.
Experience working in agriculture sector in Africa will be an advantage.
Experience in developing, implementing and managing innovative financial programs.
Experience providing technical support and advisory services.
Experience in project management especially in the design and implementation of large complex agricultural financial projects cutting across different countries in Africa.
Experience in developing and nurturing strategic partnerships.
This position is nationally recruited and will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, on a 2-year fixed-term contract. An attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
